After losing offensive coordinator Jeff Lebby to his alma mater in the University of Oklahoma, the Ole Miss Rebels and Lane Kiffin have found their replacement.
Charlie Weis Jr. will come from the University of South Florida where he served in the same role. He will join the program following the Rebels’ January 1 Sugar Bowl matchup versus Baylor.
This won’t be the first time Kiffin and Weis have worked together. Kiffin made Weis the youngest offensive coordinator in modern FBS history when he hired him at Florida Atlantic in 2018. Prior to that, the 28-year-old worked as an offensive analyst under Kiffin at Alabama for two seasons.
During his two seasons in Boca Raton, Weis helped lead the Owls to 16 wins, as well as a Conference USA championship in 2019. Both seasons, FAU finished top 25 in total offense. While at USF in 2020 and 2021, Weis’ offenses finished third-worst in the American Athletic Conference.
Weis Jr. is the son of former Notre Dame and Kansas head coach Charlie Weis. The news was first reported by On3’s Matt Zenitz.
