After a rough weekend, Ole Miss dropped nine spots in the latest D1Baseball rankings, sliding from No. 1 all the way down to No. 10.
The Rebels (16-7) did not look competitive in the first two games of the weekend versus Tennessee, losing 12-1 on Friday and 10-3 on Saturday. Then on Sunday, Mike Bianco’s squad came back from a 4-0 deficit with the go-ahead run on base in the bottom of the ninth inning but were not able to complete the comeback, losing 4-3.
While Mississippi State (15-10) did not climb back into the rankings, the Bulldogs had a bounce back weekend, taking two of three from Alabama. Southern Miss also continues to make its case on cracking the Top 25 for the first time this season, beating Alabama in a mid-week game before taking two of three from Florida Atlantic.
