Ahead of their turn at the podium at SEC Media Days, Ole Miss will now have another question to answer as sophomore DB D.D. Bowie has left the program.
“D.D. Bowie is leaving the team for personal reasons. We have supported D.D. every step of the way and wish him the best as he moves forward,” a statement from head coach Matt Luke said.
The statement did not elaborate on what those personal reasons are, but reports say that Bowie will be headed to Northeast CC to play WR.
Bowie was listed as a receiver when he committed to Ole Miss, he but spent his time in Oxford on defense. Bowie played in just five games last season as a freshman with six tackles and one pass breakup.
The former-four star recruit from Morton chose the Rebels over MSU, Alabama and other SEC schools.
Bowie leaves the program and Ole Miss will need to continue to find depth at DB if they hope to improve on 2017’s dismal defensive performance.
