Ole Miss basketball has landed a top-ranked grad transfer for the upcoming season.
After spending three seasons at Arizona State, Romello White will finish his college career in Oxford. A 6’8 forward, White averaged 10.2 points and 8.8 rebounds per game for the Sun Devils last season. He joins the Rebels with a plethora of experience after starting 92 of his 95 games at ASU.
According to ESPN, White is the 2nd-ranked grad transfer in the 2020 recruiting cycle.
“We are extremely excited to welcome Romello to the Ole Miss family,” Ole Miss head coach Kermit Davis said. “Romello is a very accomplished player that impacted winning at a high level at Arizona State. He finished second in the Pac-12 in rebounding last year and became one of the all-time shooters in conference history in terms of field goal percentage. Romello is extremely tough, fits very well in our system of play, and we can’t wait to get started this summer. He has such a high ceiling in front of him that can impact the SEC in a great way.”
Dimencio Vaughn, the 8th-ranked player on ESPN’s list, is also joining the Rebels after beginning his career at Rider. Guard Jarkel Joiner, an Oxford native, will suit up for Ole Miss this season after sitting out due to NCAA transfer rules following two seasons at Cal State Bakersfield.
Forward Shon Robinson redshirted last year and will join the active roster along with freshman guard Matthew Murrell, the highest-ranked recruit in school history.
The new additions join an Ole Miss squad aiming to replace Breein Tyree, the team’s leading scorer a season ago. Forward Carlos Curry and guard Franco Miller Jr. have both entered the transfer portal.
