Going into the 2023 season, both Ole Miss and Southern Miss have earned spots in D1Baseball’s Preseason Top 25.
The Rebels, coming off the program’s first-ever national championship, were tabbed at No. 4 with only LSU (No. 1), Tennessee (No. 2), and Stanford (No. 3) in front. The Golden Eagles, who fell to Ole Miss in last year’s super regional, came in at No. 18.
Both squads continue their seemingly annual tradition of preseason accolades. Ole Miss, one of nine SEC teams featured in D1Baseball’s poll, was recently ranked No. 6 by Perfect Game and No. 24 by Collegiate Baseball. Southern Miss, the only Sun Belt team who has earned preseason rankings so far this year, was tabbed at No. 18 by Collegiate Baseball while missing the mark in Perfect Game’s poll.
Both teams begin the 2023 season on Friday, February 17. The full rankings from D1Baseball can be viewed below.
