An Oklahoma man is behind bars after being caught with a large quantity of drugs in Simpson County.
According to the Magee Police Department, Gavin Micah Bowen was apprehended on Saturday during a traffic stop. An officer pulled Bowen over on Highway 49 South at Siloam Road because his vehicle’s tag lights were out.
When the officer approached the car, a strong odor of marijuana was detected. The officer found approximately six pounds of marijuana, 10 bottles of THC-infused canna syrup, and 83 THC vape cartridges within the vehicle. Bowen was discovered to be operating the vehicle with a suspended license and no proof of insurance.
Bowen was subsequently taken into custody and transported to the Magee Police Department for booking and processing. He is charged with trafficking a controlled substance, driving with a suspended license, improper equipment, and no proof of insurance.
Magee police remind the public that marijuana remains illegal in Mississippi except under specific medical regulations. The use of marijuana for medicinal purposes is distinctly regulated and should not be confused with the illegal possession or sale of marijuana and related products.
