I fought for several days towards the end of last week with a lower back strain that had me walking around the office and my apartment rather gingerly. I stretched and massaged my back as much as I could, but I just couldn’t seem to get any relief. When I showed up to the Gym, Coach Kilgore had a plan to help me stretch out my back in ways I’d never expect to affect my back, and by the time I left, I was almost back to 100%. If you find yourself nursing an injury, it can be disheartening because it can cut into your workout routine, but like we’ve been saying, you have to listen to your body. A few days or weeks off from working out may set you back a little bit, but it is worth it to heal your body properly.
If all else fails, remember three simple steps to help with your body’s recovery:
Get plenty of rest.
Stay hydrated.
Stretch often.
