Ohr-O’Keeffe Museum Hosts Mississippi’s Bicentennial Art Exhibition

The Mississippi Museum of Art is celebrating the state’s bicentennial year by curating twelve exhibitions for twelve cities across the state called, Art Across Mississippi: Twelve Exhibitions, Twelve Communities.

The city of Biloxi was selected to host one of these special exhibitions. The Ohr-O’Keeffe Museum of Art will host Fine/Folk: Modes of Representation in African American Art, Today – May 19, 2018.

Selected from the Museum’s permanent collection, Fine/Folk addresses the aesthetic influences of both folk art and Modern art on African American artists in the 20th century. These objects, chosen from the Mississippi Museum of Art’s permanent collection, include a variety of media yet are centralized around the notion of identity and self-representation.
