Officials representing the Tupelo Public School District, the Association for Excellence in Education (AEE), and the King Early Childhood Education Center (ECEC) gathered at the Tupelo Early Child Education Center on Friday, Sept. 13 to announce six figures in grants for this year’s academic calendar.

A total of $110,778.03 in grants were announced for the 2024-25 school year, made up by 28 grants to be used by Tupelo teachers. The funding was awarded by AEE, founded in 1983 with the goal of expanding and enhancing the education experience for Tupelo Public School District students.

“We are proud to celebrate this year as the 41st year that the Association for Excellence in Education has worked to support our public schools,” AEE managing director Cooper Ogg said in a press release.

AEE began as a special project of the CREATE Foundation, partnering with local teachers, officials, and organizations to raise funds for grants written and implemented by Tupelo teachers.

One of the premiere grants awarded by AEE this school year is the Founders Grant, awarded to the “Full Steam Ahead: Hands-on Mobile STEAM Museum” for being the most innovative proposal the AEE received this cycle.

It will go towards bringing a STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and math) museum to Rankin County to allow students hands-on learning experiences related to energy, technology, manufacturing, simple machines, gear ratios, 3D printing, computer programming, robotics, and more.
