IUKA, Miss. – One person is dead after a Sunday night shooting at a store in Iuka and a police officer is hurt.
Authorities said two officer had been chasing a vehicle driven by Howard Brent Means, Jr., 34, who got out of it and ran into the Wal-Mart.
Police had blocked his escape path, so Means started a deadly gun fight with them.
Mississippi Bureau of Investigators spokesperson Warren Strain confirmed Means was killed inside the store around 6 p.m.
The officer hurt in the shooting, Joseph Marlar, was treated and released from the hospital.
