A Jackson police officer has been arrested for his alleged role in a domestic violence altercation that resulted in a car crash.
Jackson Police Chief Joseph Wade reports that the multi-vehicle collision occurred at Robinson Road and Buena Vista Avenue on Wednesday around 10:30 a.m. Officer Jagguar Winder, who was off-duty at the time, is accused of crashing his personal vehicle into an unidentified woman’s automobile and fleeing the scene before authorities arrived.
The woman is believed to be Winder’s girlfriend. She was hospitalized and later released. Other individuals are reported to have been injured in the collision, but police did not share any additional details there.
On Thursday, Jackson police took Winder into custody and charged him with domestic violence aggravated assault. Winder, who had been with the capital city’s police force for under a year, was given a $1 million bond and will be placed on administrative leave.
