JACKSON, Miss. — Inside a dumpster at a gas station in South Jackson, possible clues in the mysterious disappearance of an entire family from Brandon.
Police and FBI agents pulled a couple of items out of the dumpster before noon Monday.
Atira Hughes Smith, her husband LaTerry Smith and her seven-year-old son Jaidon Hill have not been seen since Friday. Copiah County deputies found their wrecked car Saturday, but no sign of the family. Police think the three are in a lot of danger and may need medical treatment. COPIAH COUNTY, Miss.–If you know where the Smith family of Brandon is then you know more than deputies and the FBI at this point, and you need to give them a call. They were last heard from Friday and police said over the weekend that the whole family could be in danger and could need medical attention.
The mom, 30-year-old Altra Hughes Smith, told a relative she was going out of town for a few days Friday afternoon. But, according to police that call ended and it wasn’t until Saturday morning that the family’s upside-down, burning car was found in the western part of Copiah County.
No one was in it and a search of the woods turned up nothing.
The son, Jaidon Hill, is seven years old, black, 3 ft., 44 lbs. and brown eyes. The dad, Laterry Smith, is black, 34, 5 ft. 8, 180. The mom, Altra Hughes Smith, is black, 30, 5 ft., 150 lbs.
