A former Mississippi teacher was indicted by a grand jury on Tuesday for allegedly enticing a 17-year-old student.

Lauren Kennamore, 36, is facing one count of enticement of a child after the alleged crimes took place between February and March 2024.

Kennamore, who was a teacher at West Union Attendance Center before being fired after her arrest, also works as an academic counselor at the University of Mississippi. The university confirmed to WTVA that she has since been placed on leave.

Per Mississippi law, Kennamore could serve up to 18 years in prison if convicted.
