MARSHALL COUNTY, Miss. – A husband and wife are recovering after police said their landlord broke into their home, drenched them in lighter fluid and set them on fire.
The couple was rushed to the hospital where the woman remains in critical condition. Investigators said she had burns on her arms, shoulders and neck. Her husband was not burned as bad and was treated and released.
The landlord, Kurt Dozier, was arrested at his home, where police said they also found lighter fluid and a Zippo lighter. Dozier, who also had to be treated for burns to his hands, is charged with two counts of aggravated assault. Those charges, more serious ones are possible later, could be just beginning for him.
Investigators said the victims and Dozier have a history of many arguments.
