Update:

After initially announcing that all SEC sporting events through March 30th would be played without fans in attendance, the conference has now canceled all events, including the SEC Basketball Tournament and upcoming baseball games. For more, click here.

Original Report:

The spread of the coronavirus will impact the SEC Basketball Tournament in Nashville and at least the beginning of the SEC baseball slate.

In a news release, the Southeastern Conference announced that, effective immediately, all regular-season contests in all sports on SEC campuses and SEC Championship events will be played without fans in attendance through at least March 30th.

Ole Miss was knocked out of the SEC Tournament by Georgia earlier tonight, and Mississippi State will play the winner of the UGA/Florida matchup in Friday’s quarterfinals after receiving a double-bye as the 4-seed.

For baseball fans in Mississippi, this means that Ole Miss’ series with LSU in Oxford this weekend and Mississippi State’s series with Arkansas in Starkville will be played in front of empty seats with the exception of essential staff, limited family and credentialed media members.

Below, you’ll find each athletic department’s statements regarding purchased tickets following the announcement.

Mississippi State:

Those who purchased individual game tickets to baseball games during the March 12-30 period will be refunded or issued a credit for future purchases.
