JACKSON, Miss. – C Spire announced not one, but nine winners of its “Get Fiber First” challenge. Batesville, Clinton, Corinth, Hattiesburg, Horn Lake, McComb, Quitman, Ridgeland, and Starkville will soon have access to internet at speeds 100 times faster than what they currently have access to.
The next step in the program is for city leaders to rally communities to pre-register for fiber to see which neighborhoods qualify for access first.
“As neighborhoods have the sign up rates that we require, we intend to build,” said Jared Baumann Brand Product Manager at C Spire.
C Spire’s effort to provide fiber internet is one of the first state wide effort in the country. Governor Bryant says this effort to provide fiber “Future Proofs” Mississippi, allowing the state to compete on an international level for the next 50 years.
The starting price for 1 gigabit internet is estimated to be $80 a month.
