CHARLOTTE, N.C. –NFL Carolina Panthers defensive end and ex-Ole Miss football player Greg Hardy has been arrested on charges of domestic violence.
Hardy, 25, turned himself into Charlotte-Mecklenburg police Tuesday after his girlfriend claimed Hardy assaulted and threatened her. She told police the two had been in a relationship since September.
The Panthers made Hardy, who will earn $13.1 million next season, their franchise player back in February. He is one of the highest-paid defensive ends in the NFL.
A team spokesperson, in a written statement, said “We are very disappointed to learn of the allegations involving Greg and are concerned for all parties as we continue to investigate”.
