Mississippi-based Keesler Federal Credit Union has been named one of “America’s Best Regional Banks and Credit Unions” by Newsweek.
Keesler Federal, founded in 1947 to serve military personnel at Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, has experienced tremendous growth over its near eight decades in existence. It currently has more than 325,000 civilian and military members across 41 locations in Mississippi, Alabama, and Louisiana.
A recently announced merger with Jefferson Financial Federal Credit Union will soon add 14 additional Keesler Federal branches in the greater New Orleans area.
Known for low loan rates and good customer service, Keesler Federal was the only credit union in Mississippi to receive the nod from Newsweek after Plant-A Insights Group examined thousands of regional financial institutions across the country based on profitability, financial relevance, risk exposure to financial uncertainties, and general health and stability.
“Our outstanding financial performance is a direct result of deliberate and strategic decisions we make to protect our members’ resources and ensure the strength and stability of our credit union,” Keesler Federal President and CEO Andrew Swoger said. “And as always, we are committed to delivering first-rate service to our members that goes above and beyond expectations.”
Of Newsweek’s top 500 credit unions and 500 banks in the U.S., Keesler was one of only 200 institutions to earn a five-star ranking.
As for local banks that cracked the prestigious list, multiple were included: Citizens Bank (Columbia), First Bank (McComb), Magnolia State Bank (Bay Springs), Renasant Bank (Tupelo), Trustmark National Bank (Jackson), Bank of Commerce (Greenwood), and Century Bank (Lucedale).
