- We’re off to an ominous start in Yazoo City, with the coroner’s confirmation of a quadruple murder this morning. It happened just before 1:30 outside Club 66 on 11th street. Two people were pronounced dead at the scene, while the others were transported to UMMC, to no avail. The four victims are male, with no description of a suspect released.
- There’s sure to be more debate and legal discourse over the Rienzi mayor’s reluctant decision to remove the Christian flag from the town display. Mayor Walter William’s action came in response to a letter sent by the Freedom From Religion Foundation. The group implied that a refusal to remove the Christian flag could be met with a 500 thousand dollar lawsuit. The town is consulting with attorneys on how to respond.
- Legislative action continues this week at the Capitol. Measures remaining alive include the pre-election day voting act, another allowing students to drink water on the school bus, one that decides who should foot the bill for crime lab reports and several bills relating to your insurance rates.
- MSU alum, Dak Prescott, enjoys ongoing praise for his humility and aplomb. In accepting the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year Award, Prescott brought his Dallas team mate Ezekiel Elliott to the stage with him. Prescott joked that he needed a knife to cut the award in half, so he could share it with his Cowboy confrere.
- They’re legendary and they’re performing at Belhaven University this evening. The Vienna Boys Choir has been lifting their angelic voices at Vienna’s Imperial Chapel since 1926. Soak up the Mozart, Haydn, Schubert and more tonight at 7:30. It’s also a benefit for the Mississippi Symphony Orchestra, giving you boatloads of cultural cred.
