JONES COUNTY, Miss– Aaron Haynes was arrested Thursday night in Jones County, but not before he ran through a woman’s backyard. Debra speaks exclusively to News Mississippi. “I heard gunshot, so I went outside,” says Debra, a Jones County woman who had her quiet night in interrupted by a manhunt going on within her property lines.
“Police were up looking in the barn because they had an idea he could be in that area,” says Debra, “so the neighbors came and looked in the fishing cabin and looked in there.”
Haynes was there, crouched in the corner. When he realized he was spotted, he charged at the neighbors.
“So they pulled a weapon and shot him,” says Debra, “it was rat shot so it didn’t hurt him.”
Debra says it was the sound of gunshots that brought her outside. That’s when she learned Haynes had pushed through the neighbors and into the woods, where the cops took off after him.
“He went to a house on Tucker Road. That’s where he broke out the window and was caught there,” says Debra.
Haynes was wanted for car theft, burglary, and assault against police officers.
