JACKSON, Miss. — New jobs are being created in Mississippi as one company this week announced it is locating a facility in the state and another officially opened its doors.
California based Villa International announced this week that it would locate in the former Falcon Products facility in Belmont, Miss., in Tishomingo County. “I am proud to welcome Villa International as the newest member of the Mississippi business community and appreciate the company for placing its confidence in our business environment and trust in our workforce,” said Governor Phil Bryant.
The project represents a $250,000 corporate investment and will create 75 new jobs over a five year period. “These new jobs will certainly have a positive impact on the Belmont community for years to come,” Bryant added.
Villa International makes luxury furniture for more than 30 of the top motorhome manufacturers, including Fleetwood, Gulf Stream and Winnebago.
Nearly three months after beginning operations at the Golden Triangle Regional Industrial and Aerospace Park, CalStar Products had its’ grand opening of its’ Columbus plant Tuesday.
“Today is truly a great day for economic development here in Columbus and the Golden Triangle region,” said Mississippi Development Authority (MDA) Executive Director Brent Christensen. “MDA is grateful for your investment in our state; and we thank you again for placing your confidence in our business climate and our workforce. These new jobs and this new facility will certainly have a strong, positive impact on the local community and economy for years to come.”
CalStar Products, with its’ headquarters located in Wisconsin, makes bricks, pavers and other building products. The 100,000 square-foot Columbus facility is the company’s second plant.
It represents a investment of $8 million and has already created 17 jobs, a number expected to increase to 58 over three years.
