JACKSON, Miss.–Twinkies are starting to make their way on to shelves again around the Magnolia State.
After the company Hostess Brands bought the right to produce the cream-filled snacks, the date for their return was largely unknown outside of summer 2013.
On Sunday almost every Wal-Mart in the country had stocked Twinkies again on their shelves and calls around Mississippi, along with actually walking into stores, would confirm the notion.
The Grenada, Miss. Wal-Mart said they had sold out for a short time over the weekend when the snacks were reintroduced.
For now, it seems that the large retailers like Wal-Mart and Kroger’s are the only stores that have them in-stock.
Around a dozen calls to smaller chains from Jackson all the way to Biloxi produced zero stores that had them on the shelves, but most managers said it would only be a matter of time.
So for now if you’re looking for the cream-filled snacks in Mississippi, stick to the large chains for the immediate future, folks.
