WASHINGTON, D.C.–A new administrator for the federal Transportation Security Administration (TSA) was confirmed this week by the U.S. Senate in DC. Mississippi’s Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-2nd Dist.) congratulated Vice Admiral Peter Neffenger in a news release Monday.
“I am hopeful that he will bring the depth of experience and leadership that TSA desperately needs and I look forward to discussing his vision and priorities for the agency,” said Thompson, ranking Democrat on the House Homeland Security Committee.
“I trust that as administrator, Admiral Neffenger will work with us to address the evolving threat to our transportation security system and other challenges that TSA currently faces.”
TSA has recently drawn criticism for its failure to stop weapons from getting into airports during covert tests, and for losing badges.
