PORT GIBSON, Miss.–A new state record alligator was bagged over the weekend in Mississippi during the short season.
The big 13 foot 4 inch monster was killed on the Mississippi near Port Gibson according to the Clarion Ledger by Dustin Bockman and two other men after initially shooting the beast with a crossbow.
The encounter lasted a whole 12 hours because the 727 lbs. gator was so heavy.
Apparently another 723 lbs. gator was killed over the weekend also and held the Mississippi for a few hours before being bested by Bockman’s gator.
This year’s season in the state ends on September 9.
