JACKSON, Mississippi — South Mississippi, you have a new Public Service Commissioner for your district. Tuesday, Governor Phil Bryant named Steve Renfroe for the newly vacant position. Renfroe is a longtime native of Moss Point and was a former Chevron Executive. He replaces Lenard Bentz who as taken a new job as the director for the South Mississippi Planning and Development District.
Renfore came out of retirement to fill the position, but says he will not seek the position again in the 2015 election.
The public service commission regulates electric, water, and sewer utilities for the state as well as telecommunications. They also investigate public complaints about utilities.
