JACKSON, Miss.- A third helicopter has been added to The University of Mississippi Medical Center AirCare Fleet. This new helicopter will service the Golden Triangle area.
The helicopter was up and running on Friday. It will service intensive care units of UMMC and make sure critically ill patients receive care as quickly as possible.
The other two helicopters are located in Jackson and Meridian. This third copter will allow for more coverage in the northern part of the state. These copters are equipped to fly in marginal weather conditions and are supported by Mississippi’s only Level 1 trauma care hospital. They are paid for by UMMC’s hospital patient-care activities.
State tax dollars are not used to fund the helicopters.
