NETTLETON, Miss. – A teenager has been charged with DUI death, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest after a car crash that claimed the life of an Amory High School senior.
Dwight Phillips, 18, was arrested at his Nettleton home Friday night and could make his initial appearance in court as early as Monday.
Itawamba County deputies said Phillips had been drinking April 7 when the Chevrolet Cavalier he was driving ran off the road and hit a tree. His passenger, 17-year-old Alexis Haywood of Aberdeen, died in the accident. Phillips was also hurt.
