A cornerstone of classic rock will be honored on the big screen, but for one night only.
Daryl Hannah’s Neil Young: Coastal will play in theaters worldwide on Thursday, April 17, after originally premiering at the Woodstock Film Festival last October. The feature-length film follows the “Heart of Gold” singer on his Coastal tour last July, which marked Young’s first return to the stage post-pandemic.

Hannah, an acclaimed filmmaker and Young’s wife, provides an intimate look at the 79-year-old rock icon as his solo tour made stops along the West Coast. From beginning at The Ford in Los Angeles to ending at Lake Tahoe Outdoor Arena, Young came off a years-long hiatus to bring fans songs he rarely, if ever, performs live such as “If You Got Love,” “Prime of Life,” “Sleeps with Angels,” and “Song X.” Paired with classics like “Old Man” and “Harvest Moon,” the tour is considered one of Young’s best to date.

From traveling Pacific Coast Highway in a Silver Eagle tour bus to his candid, wry banter with audiences, the behind-the-scenes doc also offers a glimpse of Young when not performing.
Tickets for Neil Young: Coastal are on sale now and can be purchased here. For Mississippians who want to catch the new documentary, the only theater showing it in-state is Malco Grandview in Madison. That being said, the film can be caught at select theaters in neighboring states Louisiana, Arkansas, Tennessee, and Alabama.
