ATTALA COUNTY, Miss. – It was a ground breaking in Attala County Tuesday for one of the first natural gas expansion projects by Atoms Energy which being paid for by a new program set up by the Mississippi Public Service Commission. Commissioner Brandon Presley said it is more than about throwing dirt and laying new natural gas pipe lines.
“I am proud to see that our innovative approach to bringing natural gas service for economic development is bearing real fruit. This project will bring jobs and opportunity to Kosciusko and Attala County, and it would not have seen the light of day but for the innovative approach the Public Service Commission has taken. This is one piece of an 82 county jobs program where we can work to help each county grow,” Presley said.
According to Presley, this expansion will make Attala’s industrial park more marketable since they did not previously have natural gas service. Through the PSC’s program, Atmos can invest at least $5 million a year for gas expansion projects across the state
