The man accused of shooting at tourists traveling through Natchez has been caught after attempting to escape from a Louisiana jail for the second time.
Jamal Watson, 26, was seen climbing over the Concordia Parish Correctional Facility’s first perimeter fence before being rebooked over the weekend. He was then denied bond for his simple escape charge.
According to CPCF officials, Watson had also attempted to escape from the facility in July after refusing to go back to his cell, causing three Adams County jailers to intervene.
During the incident, Watson was able to secure one of the officer’s tasers and cause an arm injury to another jailer.
Watson is currently serving time for shooting at an RV in the parking lot of the La Fiesta restaurant in Natchez in April, which was occupied by four individuals traveling across the state.
Law enforcement released that the four victims had eaten at the Mexican restaurant on John R. Junkin Drive before walking back to the RV, with Watson riding up on a bicycle shortly after and firing 13 shots at the vehicle.
Watson was later charged with four counts of attempted murder with extreme indifference to human life, shooting into a vehicle, and shooting inside of city limits. He was issued a $2,101,250 bond.
