VICKSBURG, Miss.–Murder charges were expected to be filed Thursday morning against the nephew of Alfred Patton, the man found dead by his family in his mobile home near Vicksburg. He had been dead for several days when he was found Tuesday night.
Joseph Patton, 35, is Patton’s nephew and had been living with him for a few weeks before the murder.
Sheriff Martin Pace told News Mississippi that several friends and family members had been interviewed by deputies after the discovery.
“We received a 911 call from family members who had not seen their relative in several days,” said Pace. “When they arrived at his mobile home, they found him deceased. When officers arrived, it was apparent he had been dead for several days.”
Pace said Patton’s autopsy was being conducted Wednesday at the state crime lab.
