JACKSON, Miss.–One person is dead and five others have been wounded in a Monday shooting outside an apartment complex in Mississippi’s capital city. While Jackson is no stranger to shootings and murders, this one is unusual because so many bullets were fired and so many people were hit.
The action began just before 7 p.m. News Mississippi started getting Tweets just at 7 about multiple shots fired near Medgar Evers Blvd. The shootings actually happened at the Sunset Apartments, which are near Medgar Evers, just south of the Hinds Community College Jackson campus.
JPD was still working on counting just how many rounds were fired, but early estimates put the number at 200.
The name of the person killed had not been released Tuesday morning. One person was considered critical and another was only grazed.
Detectives were not discussing a motive.
