As voters turn out in droves for Mississippi’s general election, polling locations across the state are running out of ballots and scrambling to print more.
SuperTalk Mississippi News has received reports of issues in Jackson, Madison, Ridgeland, Raymond, and Clinton. With many voters being told they will have to wait, both Republican and Democrat officials are mulling lawsuits to keep the polls open past the original 7 p.m. closing time.
Pete Perry, a member of the Hinds County Executive Committee, told WLBT-TV that he is considering filing a lawsuit if the issues persist.
So far, at least nine locations in the capital city were without ballots at some point during the day. Other locations reported to have had issues are:
- Wildwood Baptist Church (Clinton)
- Wood Activity Center (Clinton)
- Fairview Church (Madison)
- Raymond Methodist Church (Raymond)
- Ridgeland Recreational Center (Ridgeland)
