Mississippi State’s defense has been solid all season long, but in SEC play, they have not faced an offense as efficient as the LSU Tigers. The Tigers are their usual impressive selves on the rushing front, but Joe Burrow has provided some consistency in the passing game the Bayou Bengals have missed in years past. Mississippi State defensive coordinator Bob Shoop spoke about the challenges the Tigers provide, including the added problem of Burrow’s recent success in the running game.
Speaking with defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons, he remembers well the dominant performance he and his teammates had against the Tigers a season ago. Simmons thinks if everybody does their job, there’s no reason the Bulldogs can replicate those kind of numbers again on Saturday night.
It will definitely be a game that features two of the best defensive lines in all of college football, and the unit that does the better job of limiting the opponent’s on the ground could very well determine the winner. Mississippi State’s defensive line has done a fantastic job this season, but they’ll have to do even better against this physical Tiger offense.
