A year ago, Mississippi State grinded out long drives against Alabama in its 31-24 loss, as Nick Fitzgerald and Aeris Williams blasted into the Crimson Tide defense, keeping the game close until the final minutes. This year, Joe Moorhead and his Bulldogs are looking to find some big plays against Nick Saban’s highly ranked unit, something they’ve been able to do in each of their last two games, both wins. Coach Luke Getsy says its all about the flow of the game and what Alabama shows that makes the decisions.
Nick Fitzgerald had similiar sentiments to Getsy. When asked if he could take anything from last year’s game into this weekend’s showdown, he said there wasn’t much you could there, that from year to year every game is different.
MSU’s sophomore tailback Kylin Hill was excited to find his way back to the end zone for the first time since his breakout performance against Kansas State. Hill said he’s ready for a physical matchup with Alabama, stating “If you hit me, I’ll hit you back.”
Mississippi State will need to continue the offensive consistency they have found these past two weekends if the Bulldogs want any shot of upsetting the top ranked Crimson Tide. We’ll discuss these comments and a lot more on SportsTalk Mississippi Wednesday.
