A key member of the Mississippi State women’s basketball team will miss the remainder of the 2018-19 season.
During last night’s victory over South Carolina, MSU lost sophomore Chloe Bibby in the opening minute with what appeared to be a serious knee injury.
Bibby was taken to the locker room, and did not return.
Today, head coach Vic Schaefer confirmed that Bibby will miss the rest of the season with a “left knee injury”, but MSU didn’t specify what the exact injury was.
“Chloe has worked so hard to be where she is today,” Schaefer said. “My heart is broken for her. If I know Chloe, she will come back bigger, faster and stronger than ever before and will be tireless in her pursuit of excellence.”
Bibby, the Warracknabeal, Australia native, appeared in all 18 games so far this season, and she led the Bulldogs with 36 three-pointers. Bibby averaged 12.6 points per game, and was the team’s 4th-leading scorer.
