On Friday, the Mississippi State Department of Health (MSDH) reported 1,190 new cases of COVID-19.
The latest report brings the state’s total number of cases up to 785,528. With the confirmation of 46 additional deaths, 11,836 Mississippians have passed away from the virus. Following Thursday’s initial report, MSDH announced that two more children have died due to COVID-19.
MSDH has identified two additional pediatric COVID-19 deaths, both in the age range of 11-17 years. Both children were unvaccinated, but eligible for vaccination against COVID-19.

Since the onset of the pandemic, Mississippi has seen 13 pediatric COVID-19 deaths as well as 305 hospitalizations in people under the age of 18.
