COVID-19 numbers are continuing to rise in the Mississippi as the Mississippi State Department of Health (MSDH) has confirmed the highest single-day total of cases since August 20.
4,885 new cases were reported by MSDH on Thursday, bringing the seven-day average of cases to 2,605. A week ago today, the seven-day average was 565.

The state’s total number of cases now sits at 543,737. With the confirmation of 11 additional deaths, 10,450 Mississippians have passed away from the virus. According to State Health Officer Dr. Thomas Dobbs, 67 percent of new infections are of the Omicron variant.
