MSDH confirms 870 new COVID-19 cases, 10 additional deaths

The Mississippi State Department of Health is reporting the state’s second-highest one-day rise in new COVID-19 cases. 

Today’s report of 870 new cases of COVID-19 brings the state’s total up to 28,770. 1,092 Mississippians have passed away from the virus with this morning’s confirmation of 10 additional deaths. 

The number of COVID-19 patients in the hospital rose for the fourth straight day and has now reached an all-time high of 602. ICU bed and ventilator usage also saw increases. 

Wednesday, Governor Tate Reeves expressed that the state’s healthcare system is “at risk” as numbers continue to rise. 

As of Monday, 19,388 Mississippians had recovered from the virus.
