MSDH confirms 589 new COVID-19 cases, 36 additional deaths

After consecutive days under 200, the Mississippi State Department of Health is reporting 589 new cases of COVID-19. 

Today’s report brings the state’s total number of cases up to 97,638. With the confirmation of *36 additional deaths, 2,957 Mississippians have now passed away from the virus. 

*MSDH Note15 COVID-19 related deaths occurred between July 31 and September 25, identified from death certificate reports.

Hospital data has not been updated on the MSDH website since last Friday. 

As of Monday, 89,737 Mississippians have recovered from the virus. 

823,185 Mississippians have been tested for COVID-19. On the testing front, Governor Tate Reeves was at the White House Monday as President Trump announced the distribution of a new rapid test, which will benefit schools and nursing homes in Mississippi.
