The Mississippi State Department of Health is reporting 563 new cases of COVID-19.

Today’s report brings the state’s total number of cases up to 102,241. With the confirmation of *24 additional deaths, 3,051 Mississippians have passed away from the virus.

*MSDH Note: 9 COVID-19 related deaths occurred between September 13 and September 30, identified from a death certificate report.

Tuesday’s report, which was delayed until late last night, included 975 new cases—the state’s largest one-day rise since mid-August. The increase in cases led State Health Officer Dr. Thomas Dobbs to state that “our equilibrium is unraveling” and he urged everyone to continue to take the proper precautions to prevent the spread of the virus.

As of Monday, the MSDH is able to estimate that 90,577 Mississippians have recovered from COVID-19.
