MS Man Accused of Sending Ricin Letters to Obama Gets New Lawyer

ABERDEEN, Miss. — James Everett Dutschke of Tupelo, the man accused of sending poisoned-laced letters in the mail to President Obama, Senator Roger Wicker, and Lee County Justice Court Judge Sadie Holland on April 8 has been appointed a new lawyer.

Two public defenders, George Lucas and Gregory Park, asked to be withdrawn from the case. They said it was because of a conflict with another client the public defender’s office.

Kenneth H. Coghlan of Oxford has been chosen by U.S. District Judge Sharion Aycock to represent Dustschke. He is set to stand trial October 7 in federal court.
