JACKSON, Miss.- Movin’ and Groovin’, it was a fitness fair at the Capitol Monday where state employees could talk to representatives from local fitness and health programs and facilities.
“We do this once a year and it’s in collaboration with a lot of programs that we have.” Senator Kenneth Wayne Jones, who helped put on the festival said, “It promotes healthy living for the state employees and their families. The weather’s getting warmer now so we want to make sure that all of us put forth the effort that Mississippi is not always last in fitness.”
They had upbeat music with a DJ, food, dancing, door prizes and exercise demonstrations people of all ages could participate in. Lots of people were “movin and groovin” outside the Capitol steps Monday.
Jones said, “We have all our collaborations and partners out here talking about everything from child birth to health care.”
Each program had a booth set up with representatives and flyers to inform the state employees about different types of health and fitness.
