TUPELO, Miss.–The coldest night in a while is tonight and early Wednesday. But, it could be the last time you see freezing overnight temps for a while.
The northern three quarters of Mississippi is under a freeze warning, and temps could be below 32 as far south as Hattiesburg.
“There could be prolonged freezing conditions tonight, especially in north central and northeast Mississippi,” said National Weather Service Meteorologist David Cox.
“There is a high risk for temperatures to reach 28 degrees or less,” he said.
Cox said if you have tender vegetation or plants, you’ll want to bring them in.
He said, though, that it could be the last blast of cold air for a while.
“Right now it does look like we will be warming. It looks like one of the last ones, especially being in early spring now. But, we can’t rule out something else later on.”
