A Moss Point woman has been taken into custody and charged with aggravated DUI causing death following a two-vehicle crash that left one dead and several injured in Biloxi.
According to court documents, 21-year-old Evelynn Imani Patton had allegedly been involved in a collision near Popps Ferry Road and Tommy Munro Drive at around 1:30 a.m. on November 26.
Officials reported that Patton and two occupants in the other vehicle were quickly transported to local hospitals after receiving injuries from the crash while first responders attempted to retrieve a female passenger stuck in Patton’s car.
The passenger later died at the scene of the collision despite first responders performing life-saving measures.
An investigation was launched shortly after the incident by the Biloxi Criminal Investigators, with a report from the Mississippi Forensics Laboratory showing that Patton’s blood had a high level of alcohol content at the time of the wreck.
A felony warrant was then issued by Justice Court Judge Albert Fountain, leading Patton to turn herself in to the police on Friday, January 26.
Patton was booked at the Harrison County Adult Detention Center where her bond was set at $500,000. The investigation into the collision is currently ongoing.
