A Mississippi Gulf Coast teenager is undergoing mental evaluations after allegedly threatening to shoot his parents, peers at a local high school, and himself.
Jackson County Sheriff John Ledbetter reports that the unidentified 17-year-old male ran away from home Monday night and did not return.
The adolescent’s mother notified officials at East Central High School in Moss Point about the threats the teen had levied against students, prompting the facility to go on a precautionary lockdown, which has since been lifted.
The teenager was located and detained by deputies at a friend’s house Tuesday morning and is being evaluated.
