RIPLEY, Miss.–Ripley will now have the legal sale of beer, light wine, wine and liquor after a vote Tuesday that overwhelmingly signaled the town is ready. There were two measure on the ballot and both passed easily, despite protests from the Tippah Baptist Association.
And Ripley is not the only place to recently allow liquor sales. Corinth and Tishamingo County also recently put it to a vote and came out with liquor sales being allowed.
Brandon is expected to take a vote next Tuesday on the matter.
Many of the proponents of alcohol sales, where there have been none since prohibition in some places, say it’s a matter of economics and tourism.
