GREENVILLE, Miss.- This time it happened in Greenville, a barge breakaway near mile marker 501.6 on Monday.
Four empty barges and to containing ammonium nitrate broke lose from their tow vessel, Big J.O., after striking the bank of the Mississippi River.
The River is now closed from mile maker 503 to mile marker 490. One of the barges might be sinking and four have been recovered. Good Samaritan vessels are trying to retrieve the last one.
The cause of the incident is under investigation, reports WLBT.
