Jackson, Miss— As Easter draws closer, Mississippi’s Jewish community prepares for Passover traditions.
“Passover reflects on the Israelites leaving slavery in Egypt for freedom,” says Rabbi Jeremy Simons of the Institute of Southern Jewish Life.
During Passover, people come together to celebrate with a symbolic dinner, called Seder.
“Everything in the meal is symbolic,” says Simons, “from the way we sit to the way the food is prepared.”
