In less than a week Mississippians will head to the polls to decide who they want to represent them in Washington. There are two statewide races for U.S. Senator and all four of Mississippi’s U.S. House seats are up for grabs as well.
For U.S. Senate, Democrat David Baria is going up against Republican incumbent Senator Roger Wicker and Libertarian candidate Danny Bedwell along with Reform candidate Shawn O’Hara.
The second U.S. Senate race is classified as a special election and voters will choose between Democrats Tobey Bartee and Mike Espy, Republican Incumbent Sen. Cindy Hyde-Smith, and Republican Chris McDaniel. Hyde-Smith was appointed by Governor Phil Bryant when U.S. Senator Thad Cochran retired after 40 years in the U.S. Senate. The election will likely go to a run-off on November 27th.
A Mississippi supreme court justice along with various Appellate, Chancery and Circuit Court judges will also be on the ballot Tuesday, November 6th.

Lucien Smith, Chairman of the Mississippi GOP said that while control of the House and the Senate are at stake during the election, electing local judges can be just as important.
“Conservatives want judges at every level who view their job as interpreting the law that has been passed, not trying to force their own policy positions into a statute…” Smith said. “It’s important that we elect good conservative jurists who view their job as calling balls and strikes instead of being players in the game.”
